To take your Blogsome blog down for maintenance (should you ever need to) put this code before the {$content} tag in your index.html file:

And put something like this after it:

This blog is down for maintenance etc etc
{/if}
Whatever you do, never admit you’ve merely nipped out for a bag of fish ‘n’ chips. It looks so unprofessional!
‘Markdown’ isn’t used on this site, but looks useful, especially if you write a lot of computer code. Worth taking a look at.

If you haven’t heard of this one before, where on earth have you been–and can you supply your latitude and longitude co-ordinates? These guys can. And you can also get your blog listed here for free. All you have to do is add a couple of meta tags to your page. Couldn’t be simpler. Geo whiz! It’s brilliant!
You can tell it’s nearly coffee time again, when I lump together a dozen assorted links and try and make it sound like good value for money. Whereas in reality it’s more like let’s get these goddam links outta the way. Even so, these will be of interest to bloggers everywhere.
Update: 2007-10-08 — Links to blog directories have been removed, because too many of them seem to contain a high proportion of outdated links or just plain old splogs.
